Would you call yourself a leader?
I once led a group meeting on the subject of leadership many years ago. There were about 50 people in attendance.
When I asked the group how many of them were leaders, only a few people raised their hands.
Surprised by the limited response, I explained that being a leader isn’t just for people running a business or speaking in front of a crowd.
Parents, employees—even a child—can learn how to lead.
Leadership isn’t a title. Leadership is influence.
If your words or actions cause someone to do something that they may not have done otherwise, you’re a leader.
You can lead by having a positive attitude. It’s contagious.
You can lead by giving a word of encouragement. Positive feedback motivates.
You can lead by raising your expectations. People respond when given a meaningful challenge.
We’re all leaders in some capacity. So let’s use that responsibility to make a positive difference in our relationships, our communities, and our businesses.
How are you committed to growing in your leadership this year?
