I used to lead a meeting with my team called “Stand Up / Speak Up”.
Nobody was allowed to sit. Standing only meant that the meeting was going to be short and to the point.
You also had to come ready to contribute to the discussion. No passive bystanders. Everyone had a role to play and a purpose for being there.
I enjoyed these meetings because they were an effective way to get everyone on the same page. It encouraged open communication and eliminated many unnecessary texts and emails. Problems were addressed sooner and our team started working better together.
Do you meet with your team regularly?
Daily morning meetings can be a powerful management tool to help you be more productive, efficient, and profitable.
Here’s a 15-minute agenda that you might try with your team:
- Start your meeting on a positive note. Ask everyone to share a win from the past week. Maybe a nice comment from a patient or a solution to a tough problem.
- Review today’s schedule. Who’s coming in today? Are they new? Do they owe us money?
- Ask questions. Let others voice their concerns or ask questions. If it can’t be addressed quickly, make a note to follow up after the meeting.
- Review benchmarks. What are your goals for the month? Are you on track to meet them?
Whatever you do, keep it simple and make it work for your team. There’s no right or wrong way to communicate, just as long as it’s effective.
I’d love to get your feedback on this. What meeting format works best for you?
